Facilities available at the ETREC-Holston Unit include a grain dryer capable of drying small grains, and a covered cattle working facility consisting of shaded holding pens, a sweep tub, electronic scales, and squeeze chute.
The ETREC-Holston Unit has cattle for teaching and research, averaging 50 cow/calf pairs a year. Currently, this unit has twenty two acres devoted to switchgrass research, forty acres of plot research focusing on weed control strategies that are effective, economical and environmentally-sound; as well as twenty acres of wheat breeding and variety trials. The unit grows its own hay and corn silage for cattle feed.
